PURPOSE: To consider the provision of economic development incentives pursuant to G.S. 158-7.1.
The Board of Commissioners intends to consider awarding an economic development incentive to a company identified as Project Rehab. The County will provide an incentive grant in the approximate amount of $31,343 (thirty-one thousand three hundred forty-three dollars). This amount may be more or less, depending on the actual investment made by the company in any given year. The grant amount has been negotiated and agreed to by the parties, contingent upon the company entering into a formal agreement and the approval of the Lenoir County Board of Commissioners.
These incentives provide financial assistance to companies expanding or locating in Lenoir County based on job creation and capital investment. Companies receive no money up front, must meet established performance targets, and pay taxes before receiving any incentive payment. The amount of property tax revenue billed to the company on its capital investment will exceed the total incentive paid by the County.
